Give your Employer the Reservist Experience
Employer engagement activities are designed to give employers a hands-on experience of what reservists do, and how they contribute to the ADF. Reservists are responsible for making sure their civilian employers are aware of these activities and in some instances are required to nominate their employer to attend.
The primary activities are Exercise Executive Stretch and Exercise Boss Lift.
Exercise Executive Stretch
Exercise Executive Stretch is a challenging and enjoyable activity for current and potential reservist civilian employers. The activity is normally one to three days, held over a weekend and is informative and adventurous, within a safe and controlled environment.
Exercise Executive Stretch is an extremely popular activity and employers who participate say it is ‘a unique experience not to be missed’.
The program combines a range of activities that might include some of the following:
- leadership, confidence and initiative tests
- team-building exercises
- navigation theory and practice
- quick decision exercises
- abseiling and rappelling exercises (challenge by choice)
- visits to technical training facilities
Exercise Executive Stretch is designed to be fun, stimulating and geared towards developing personal skills rather than physical exertion. Average fitness levels are sufficient to participate.
Exercise Boss Lift
Exercise Boss Lift enables employers of reservists to learn first-hand what the ADF does on major exercises and operations. Often there is an opportunity for employers to see their employees working in their ADF Reserve role. Exercise Boss Lift activities will usually take place over a three to five day period.
In recent years, Exercise Boss Lift has seen employers travel to overseas locations and major military exercises in Australia.
