Prior to lodging an ESPS claim online, a claimants business is required to have a valid AUSkey or myGov account (linked to a valid ABN)
When lodging an ESPS claim online, supporting evidence/documents are not to be greater that 5MB is size and must be in a PDF file format.

For queries related to AUSkey or myGov contact 1300 AUSkey (1300 287 539)
For queries related to the ESPS online claim system, please refer to the Guide for ESPS online Claims or contact 1800 001 696 or email esp@defence.gov.au for support.

Submission Time Frame

ESPS claims must be submitted within six months of the first day of continuous Defence service for which the claim is made (this does not apply to the annual qualifying period).

Claims that are made more than six months after the first day of service will only be eligible for payment for any part of the claim that occurred within six months of the claim being made (unless this requirement is waived by an ESPS decision-maker).

Late Claims

Claimants may request a waiver of the submission time frame for late claims.

Late claims for which a waiver is sought must be forwarded, with justification for the late submission, to the nominated ESPS decision-maker.

Claimants must explain why the claim was submitted late and detail any special circumstances that may apply.

An ESPS decision-maker may approve a late claim if satisfied that the reasons for late submission were beyond the claimant's control, such as an illness or injury.

Claimants who have previously been approved for a waiver of the submission time frame, should not anticipate further late claims to be accepted.

Claims that are submitted more than 12 months after the Defence service was undertaken can not be approved.
